Japanese Yukata material originally meant for making summer kimono is ideal for quilters. It is easy to work with, 100% cotton, washable and many of the patterns are hand printed. We have yukata material available by the "Fat Quarter", by Pre-Cut Packages (VERY LIMITED AVAILABLE) and by the yard in limited amounts of each design both in the traditional blue and white and multicolors.
Japanese Haori jackets were originally meant to be worn over the kimono, but they can be used as Western style clothing. Haori are all hand made and because the seams are blind stitched they can be worn inside out for a completely different look. Worn as blazers they are a unique addition to any stylish wardrobe. Worn backwards and tied at the waist they make an exciting evening or formal top. Our haori are all 'one of a kind'.
Men's Haori can be worn by both sexes. The outside of the men haori is made from a solid color material and the inside has marvelous patterns and designs. When not worn as clothing they can be displayed as wonderful works of art. Like the ladies haori they are all hand stitched and 'one of a kind'.
The Omiyamaidi is a child kimono worn as part of Shinto ceremony. Grandmothers carry the month old baby to the temple for a special blessing. It is worn again in November of the year the child is 3, 5, and 7 years old, for the Shi-chi-go-san ceremony. Boy's kimono often have a black background and are decorated with auspicious symbols. They are sometime heavily embroidered. Because of their diminutive size they can be used effectively for interior decorative accents.
We have designed a number of easy to assemble quilt kits, wall hangings and more for your convenience. The kits use yukata material, vintage Japanese silks and other decorative fabrics. Full instructions are included. Check our quilt kits (SOLD OUT) and wall hangings.
